My Hero Academia: 10 Best Episodes

9. Tomura Shigaraki: Origin

All Might One For All My Hero Academia
Bones

A story is only as good as its villain, and it's safe to say that My Hero Academia need not worry about that, as their antagonist Tomura Shigaraki is terrifying. The chance to see a two-part story showing how he became a crazy villain was bound to make some shockwaves. So, let's discuss the second half of that narrative (with the first possibly coming later, wink wink.)

This episode takes place during Shigaraki's battle with Re-Destro and flashes back to his life after losing his family. He crawls around on the streets, destitute and with nowhere to go, before being taken in by the heinous All For One and becoming the horrifying, hand-clad monster fans were familiar with.

Naturally, it's equal parts heartbreaking and frightening to see the vulnerable kid version of this character being coerced into evil by All For One. The episode has this uncanny horror, which makes you question just how far the series is willing to go. It dives into some very dark territory, making it stand out as one of the scarier episodes.

Seeing the death of his old self and the rise of Shigaraki paints the villain in an even more intimidating light and puts him on a fresh path of power and destruction.
