Narcos Season 2 Review: 8 Ups & 3 Downs
6. The Narrative Is Much More Focused
One could argue that season one felt a little rushed considering that it decided to compress 15 years of incident into just 10 one-hour (ish) episodes.
Thankfully this season is laser-focused by comparison, focusing on the final year in Escobar's life from 1992 to 1993, and lacking the jolting, jarring time leaps that occasionally made the first season a little tough to follow.
This time the plot feels more streamlined but no less compelling: it doesn't leap around so much and instead leaves us deep in the trenches with both sides as the manhunt heats up. The shorter passage of time means that there are more contemplative, talky scenes than before, and the showrunners clearly aren't as rushed to tell so much story in such a short span of time.
