Netflix: 10 Upcoming Titles To Be Excited About From SWNAsia

In a war-torn, feudal Japan, with the added bonus of not-at-all-historical Mechs (giant, mechanical, usually piloted robots) and magic, a retired ronin is forced to return to work when he's tasked to transport a child who's being chased by dark forces.

The premise alone is enough to get people's interest piqued, but there's a lot more to anticipate with this particular anime.

For one thing, the name Yosuke seems to be in reference to a famous historical figure by the same name, who was a black African man who came to Japan on a Portuguese ship, a man who so fascinated locals that he won the favour of feudal lord Nobunaga and became a samurai.

For another, the anime will be created and directed by LeSean Thomas of The Boondocks fame, with Grammy nominee Flying Lotus doing the music, and Lakeith Stanfield, best known for his roles in Get Out and FX series Atlanta, as the voice of the protagonist Yasuke. Apart from that, the animation studio working on the project is MAPPA, who worked on well-known and beloved titles such as Yuri On Ice and Kakegurui.

Even without available previews, this anime is clearly one to look out for.
