Netflix's Gypsy Review: 2 Ups And 6 Downs
1. The Daughter
Jean's daughter, Dolly, is the best written character on the show. The little girl has ADHD, which presumably makes her more prone to GID - gender identity disorder. Dolly kisses a girl, which causes some confusion in her school. She cuts her hair short and plays Peter Pan in a school play. She also dresses like a boy.
Everything she says and does seems natural. It may be partially attributed to the fact she has little screen time, and that she's a child, that she isn't as annoying as the adults. She's very smart for her age, which cannot be said bout Jean and the rest of the characters. Dolly is the nicest character on the show, the only one it seems actually fun to be around.
