Netflix's Gypsy Review: 2 Ups And 6 Downs
Downs...
6. It's... Well, Boring
Jean and Sidney are immediately into each other, but it takes six episodes for them to actually kiss. With such a buildup, the kiss should be something special. It should validate the wait. Instead, Jean kisses Sidney on the street, smiles and walks away. If she were a strong character, this could be presented as an instance of her exhibiting control over the girl. That's clearly not the case - it's just a badly written scene.
The therapy sessions seem to drag on and on as well and Jean's patients clearly have nothing interesting to say. Instead of using the unrealistic, but proven method of one patient per episode, there are three characters who visit Jean and tell her about their problems on and on and on. There are some interesting occurrences, but they're just too far apart.
