6. Taystee & Poussey
One of the best TV double-acts (possibly in TV history?), Taystee and Poussey provide both light relief and some of the most tender moments of friendship on Orange is the New Black. The actresses who portray them, Danielle Brooks (Taystee) and Samira Wiley (Poussey), are friends in real life, and have been for 6 years since they met in Julliard. This gives an added shade of realism into their on-screen friendship, and is probably why theyre just so good at bouncing off one another. As Orange is the New Black is becoming more of an ensemble rather than focusing on Piper, were bound to get more of them than ever, and this has been confirmed by the actresses. Danielle Brooks has been upgraded to series regular, and Wiley has said that Poussey has been filled out a bit more beyond the sidekick-esque role she previously had. Whats more, Brooks has said that she was shocked by Taystee this season, and Wiley even let us in on that well get to see Pousseys backstory. These two may have served primarily as comedic asides, but this season it looks like well get see a much more rounded picture of both.
