Ozark: 10 Most Disturbing Moments
1. Mason Young Baptises Zeke
Ozark certainly didn't pull any punches in its first season; but between all the violence and mutilation, it was still a surprise when we almost witnessed a grieving widow (appears to) drown his infant son.
Mason's tragic character is only bolstered more when you realise, everything that went bad for him was as a result of the (still alive) Byrdes. The unhinged nature of Mason certainly carries over into the next season, but at the end of the first, we're not sure if Mason is going to stick around. Taking baby Zeke out to the lakes, Mason holds the baby underwater and stares forward blankly for a very, very, very long time.
Thirty seconds suddenly feels extremely long when you're watching a man (whose body language prior to the scene wasn't the most calm) hold a newborn baby underwater. With an distant expression on his face, it's no wonder this scene still makes viewers' pulses rise and feel uncomfortable in their seats.
When Mason finally lifts Zeke out the water, and we hear those cries of the newborn, we can't help but take a breath with him.
