The Parks department has so many bizarre murals that depict the history of Pawnee, and this one is just so layered it's hard to stop looking at it. In "Harvest Festival," Leslie explains that Pawnee is incredibly superstitious, and as an example, she tells the story of a magician who pulled a rabbit out of a hat and then was burnt at the stake. "The year was 1973," she finishes.

As she's talking you see this mural of the event, and the joke is that the camera pans out to show all the modern imagery when you'd expect this to happen in the 1600s. There's another layer to the gag that goes by unnoticed the first time around, though. Pause and take a closer look at that mural and you'll notice that the Pawnee citizens have tied up the man's bunny, too, which would be adorable if the thing wasn't about to be burnt alive. As it turns out, Pawnee is even more messed up than previously thought. Poor thing.
