Effectively replacing Leslie Knope's season one love interest in Mark Brendanawicz, the geeky state auditor Ben Wyatt, as portrayed by Adam Scott, was a far better fit for the sitcom than Paul Schneider's miscast character.
A huge nerd, Wyatt’s earnest nature was endearing and it was impossible not to root for him to succeed in Pawnee. Ben Wyatt is probably one of the more relatable characters in the show; he’s not a caricature or over the top like April Ludgate or Ron Swanson but instead he’s a grounded public servant who has realistic flaws and a mature head on his shoulders.
