Parks & Recreation: 10 Hidden Jokes You Totally Missed
6. Pawnee's Many Offensive Murals
Over the course of its seven seasons, Pawnee's sketchy history and political past have been consistently hinted at and referenced to through occasional one liners, pieces of dialogue and especially through the numerous murals scattered around Pawnee City Hall.
While they are rarely referred to directly, they do provide some chuckle-worthy insight into the insane history of Pawnee, Indiana. One mural depicts a man punching a woman in the stomach while a crowd apparently cheers in delight.
Another mural that can be seen throughout the series portrays a travelling magician being burned at the stake in the Pawnee Mall parking lot having been accused of witchcraft.
The most hilarious aspect of this mural is the fact that it appears to be taking place in the 1970's.
