Parks & Recreation: 10 Hidden Jokes You Totally Missed

5. Ben's Birthday Puns

Parks and Recreation
NBC

The sixth episode of season 6 "Filibuster" is one of the best of the season mainly for the fantastic main plotline that concerns Leslie rollerskating her way through an arduous emergency filibuster, but also because of the secondary story about Ben's birthday party at a 90's-themed roller rink that Leslie threw, despite the fact that she couldn't actually attend it due to the aforementioned filibuster.

While the party includes some typically funny character interactions and wacky scenarios, there are plenty more laughs to be had if you pay attention to the background, where there are several posters with puns combining Ben's name with 90's movies.

In one shot, there is a screen with text that reads "Wyatt Ben Can't Jump" and in another scene, above Donna's head, there is a banner that says "A Few Good Bens". It's a simple prop gag that pays homage to Ben's nerdiness and love of movies but it adds a lot to the episode and shows the kind of care that Leslie put into the party.
