Parks & Recreation: 10 Hidden Jokes You Totally Missed
4. Li'l Sebastian's Funeral Playlist
The sixteenth episode of the third season of Parks and Recreation brought with it one of television's most devastating deaths: that of Pawnee's favourite miniature horse Li'l Sebastian.
Li'l Sebastian was first introduced at the 1987 Harvest Festival, and was universally beloved by every Pawneen citizen and continued to be Pawnee's most popular resident until his tragic passing in the season three finale.
Naturally, the parks department immediately set about organising a public funeral befitting Li'l Sebastian's immense celebrity. At the ceremony, Andy performs his song "5000 Candles in the Wind", a song he wrote to be "5000 times better than Elton John's "Candle in the Wind".
However, if you pay attention, the songs "Wild Horses" by The Rolling Stones and "A Horse With No Name" by America can be heard in the background during the memorial service scenes.
The songs aren't ever directly addressed but they do allude to the idea that the parks department curated an entire playlist of horse related songs, which is a hilarious hidden gag.
