Ann Perkins served as a straightman figure to many of the more colourful figures in Parks and Recreation (particularly Leslie Knope). Often considered an under-utilised character in earlier seasons, the character’s popularity increased greatly with her storylines opposite Chris Traeger.

In 2015, Jones served as producer of the Netflix documentary series, Hot Girls Wanted. She also directed the first episode. The series focuses on several women, ages 18-25, who work in the pornography industry.

In 2016, Jones co-wrote the teleplay for the Black Mirror episode, Nosedive. In 2018, Jones appeared as Cheryl Deakins in Tag, a comedy about a bunch of childhood friends who still play a month of tag every year as grown-ups. Also in 2018, she wrote and directed Quincy in collaboration with Alan Hicks. The documentary focused on the life Jones’ father, the legendary music producer, Quincy Jones. The documentary was awarded the Best Music Film award at last year’s Grammy Awards ceremony. She also wrote for Toy Story 4 with frequent collaborator, Will McCormack but ultimately left the project early in its development.

In 2017, Jones became the spokesperson for the cosmetics brand, Almay. The next year, she became the first ever female ambassador for Maison Kitsune.
