Parks & Recreation Cast: Where Are They Now?

6. Aubrey Plaza

Parks And Recreation
NBC

April Ludgate was written specifically for Aubrey Plaza. Creators Michael Schur and Greg Daniels were taken aback by her deadpan delivery and incorporated it into the character.

Plaza’s trademark straight-faced style has served her well since Parks and Recreation with numerous film roles in comedies such as Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates, Dirty Grandpa and The Little Hours. Plaza was widely lauded for her performance as the social media obsessed Ingrid Thorburn in the comedy drama, Ingrid Goes West in 2017.

Plaza appeared in all 3 seasons of the FX Marvel series, Legion, first portraying Lenny Busker and then primary villain Shadow King whenever he assumes Busker’s appearance thereafter.

In 2019, Plaza was the main star in a remake of the 80s horror classic, Child’s Play. Sporting a sci fi, high tech update on the original’s more supernatural story, the film received decent reviews and was a modest box office success.

In promotion of the 2020 Independent Spirit Awards, Plaza starred in a parody of The Lighthouse with comedy legend, Bill Murray. Plaza went on to host the ceremony for the second time, having done the honours in 2019 also.
