Peaky Blinders: 10 Best Minor & Supporting Characters
3. Luca Changretta
When a pokey BBC gangster series gets a name like Adrien Brody, you know it has entered a whole new world of brilliant; and the best part of it is that the Oscar-Winner was one of the best characters to come from the series.
Luca Changretta's vendetta against the Shelby family was bloody, brutal, and utterly devoid of mercy. In avenging the death of his father Vicente, Luca comes as close as anybody has to completely destroying the Shelby family. Not only was John heartbreakingly brought down upon his orders, he came very close to managing to kill Arthur and Tommy too.
This wasn't a fight about ideology or gang borders, this was about family. Luca insists that the vendetta be fought honourably when he meets with Tommy, sending him and his family a black hand in the mail which signifies that he is coming ahead of time.
This encapsulates Luca in an instant, he is a man of honour and respect, as well as total devotion to his word. He fights with Tommy honourably, though it might be underhanded and in the shadows at times, Tommy knows the game they both play and plays the same game back.
Brody was more akin to Vito Corleone in his brilliant portrayal of Luca - and the scene in which he makes a deal with Alfie Solomons is among the shows best ever.
