Peaky Blinders: 10 Best Minor & Supporting Characters

2. Aberama Gold

Alfie Solomons Peaky Blinders
BBC

The kestrel, the pikey. Aberama Gold is a brilliant creation in the Peaky Blinders world. His brief but memorable tenure in the series was full of everything that Peaky Blinders is all about.

Aberama is first seen when Tommy hires him and his Gypsy hitmen to protect the Shelby family during their conflict with Luca Changretta, even at John's funeral Aberama and his men do their duty and kill mafia men before they can get to Tommy.

However, what sets Aberama apart is his reasoning, he doesn't do what he does out of loyalty or because he is being blackmailed, it is simply because Aberama is a man of his word. He doesn't go back on deals he has made and fulfils his contract to the best of his ability. He protects the Shelby's so that his son gets a shot at being a boxer and to get closer to Polly, whom he later ends up engaged to.

Although Aberama died in the most shocking and unexpected of circumstances, he left a mark on the series that was phenomenal. He wasn't an empire builder or a man seeking more power, he simply wanted the best for his family and those he cared for. He knew Tommy could make his son a boxer, so their deal was made out of Aberama's sense of family, not greed.

When he went, moments before he could avenge his son's death, nobody saw that coming.
