Peaky Blinders: Each Main Character Ranked From Worst To Best
12. Esme Shelby
In what started off as an arranged marriage, the relationship between John Shelby and Esme grew into a very loving and dedicated one. A strong-willed and stubborn gypsy, Esme is opposed to most of the Shelby family lifestyle throughout the series. She even has a confrontation with Tommy about this very issue.
Esme was often a breath of fresh air whenever she was on screen, and the fact that she stood up to everyone in the family made her instantly memorable. When John is killed at the beginning of Season Four, Esme curses his brothers and vows to take her and John's children on the road far away from the Shelbys. It's a heart-breaking scene and actually is more emotionally affecting than John's death itself.
She kept her promise and left the family as well as the show itself, which is a shame. If a feasible and logical way for Esme's return could be thought of, it would be more than welcome.
