Peaky Blinders: Every Season Ranked Worst To Best (So Far)

2. Season One

Peaky Blinders
BBC

Season One seems so long ago with characters and plotlines that are so far removed from what the focus is now, it's almost like a different show entirely. The communist Freddie Thorne and his love affair with Ada, John's immaturity and wedding to Esme, Grace's hands-on undercover work against the Peaky Blinders.

All except Ada are now either dead or gone and they were what drove that first season. Most notably of course is Inspector Chester Campbell, who remains the best antagonist the show has ever seen. Played with a bitter resentment by the always under appreciated Sam Neill, Campbell was the perfect adversary to Tommy and he is missed on the show to this day.

It is also the most human Tommy has ever been, with his developing romance with Grace at the forefront, it was easiest to support Tommy's actions in this season than any other.

The season may lack the scope or ambition of its later efforts but it is the most personal and intimate season of the show and that is why it is one of the best.
