Pennyworth Trailer Reactions: 5 Ups & 1 Down

3. It's Visually Stunning

1960s London, you look beautiful.

One thing that immediately stood out about the Pennyworth trailer was that it didn't look like any other superhero show on air at the moment. No, that statement isn't referring to the content (which also admittedly didn't look like any other superhero show on air at the moment), it's referring to the show's beautiful aesthetic.

Those vintage neon street lights immediately jump out against the foggy London sky (and not in a blinding Batman Forever kind of way), while the dim bar lighting reflects the era perfectly, setting this up as one of the most visually stunning period dramas in recent memory.

Batman-related films or TV shows tend to thrive on their eerie visuals, highlighting the beautifully twisted architecture of Gotham City in the process, so it's nice to see that Pennyworth has also borrowed that concept but, in doing so, used it to highlight 1960s London instead.

The period setting will undoubtedly set it apart from other shows in its genre and, as a long as it keeps stunning us with sights such as these, it will continue to stand out for all the right reasons.

However the show itself turns out, at least we know that it will be a visual masterpiece.
