Person Of Interest Season 3: 10 Major Improvements On Season 2

6. Expanded Ensemble Cast

During Person of Interest€™s first two seasons the main cast was very small, as Reese and Finch were the primary characters, played by Jim Caveziel and Michael Emerson respectively. Detectives Carter and Fusco, though a large part of the show, were really secondary characters who never got too involved in the usual POI business, especially when it came to the bigger threats. Though the chemistry between those characters was well done, it admittedly ran the risk of becoming stale since it was only those four characters for the majority seasons one and two. Undoubtedly one of the strongest components of this season was the expanded cast as Shaw and Root became series regulars, joining the POI team and appearing in nearly every episode. They were two very compelling characters that had great chemistry with everyone else, especially Root, who acted as the unpredictable wild card much of the time. Shaw was also a standout addition to the team as she had a much more blunt way of resolving conflicts than Reese or Finch, much to Finch€™s chagrin. If these two weren€™t promoted to series regulars, it is very likely this season wouldn€™t have been nearly as great as it was.
