Preacher Season 2: 5 Ups And 1 Down From 'Gonna Hurt'

1. The Tombs

Preacher Jesse
AMC

Jesse's dark past has been hinted at ever since Preacher began, but we've started to see it for ourselves since he's returned to Angelville, and it looks like he's about to descend into new levels of darkness in Season 3.

In Gonna Hurt, Jesse resumes control of The Tombs - which appear to be some sort of creepy attraction where L'Angelle imprisons those who don't pay their debts. As ringmaster of The Tombs, Jesse pits Cassidy against a child-abusing teacher, as spectators watch the two men brawl.

Jesse's struggle with his own morality has long been a common theme of the show, and he's proven on occasion that he doesn't mind bending the rules - or using Genesis to get what he wants - but resuming his ringmaster position at The Tombs is a whole new level of darkness for him. Regardless of what happens in the future, his time in Angelville will have a lasting effect on him, and it's going to be tough to go back to who he was before this.
