Preacher Season 3: 5 Ups And 1 Down From 'The Tombs'
2. The Depths Of Hell
We've seen hell featured on Preacher quite a few times now. The hit AMC series has created its own version of the unholy plain of existence, which is reminiscent of a prison ward. People who dwell in hell are treated like inmates, and while in their cells, they are forced to relive their worst memory over and over.
This all sounds terrifying, but who knew that we'd yet to see what the real hell looks like? During The Tombs, when The Saint of Killers goes to visit Satan, we get a glimpse of what the depths of hell look like, and it's both awesome and terrifying. The elevator screeches to a resounding halt as it reaches the ground floor, and flames consume the antagonist as he steps out - into the real Hell. It's both a stereotypical representation of hell, and yet it something entirely original. Fire consumes everything in sight, and the ground is covered in bones. Satan's office is inside a giant burning skull. Satan himself is a red muscle man with horns, which is pretty incredible too.
The CGI used to create the fiery landscape is actually pretty great, which is shocking considering the show airs on AMC. Fans of The Walking Dead are still having nightmares about the deplorable rendering of a deer that was used in the post-apocalyptic show several seasons ago.
