Preacher TV Series: Everything You Need To Know

3. Joseph Gilgun Is Cassidy

If Arse-Face is one of the most memorable characters in the Preacher comics purely for his look, then Cassidy is the one that readers love to hate because of his personality, and his really terrible behaviour. The amoral €œfriend€ of Jesse Custer and Tulip O€™Hare, Cassidy is a hundred-year-old Irish vampire just looking for a good time. Throughout the comics he varies between being a charimsatically likeable arsehole and a total monster, peaking when he takes advantage of Tulip€™s sorry state after thinking Jesse was dead, getting her drunk and drugged up and sleeping with him until she snaps out of it, shoots him so hard he flies out into the sunlight and perishes. He€™s a tough nut to crack, so it€™s reassuring to know an actor of Joseph Gilgun€™s calibre has been cast in the role. Known for his show-stealing parts in This Is England and Misfits (with a brief stop-over in soap opera Emmerdale), Gilgun has exactly the sort of devilish cheeky-chappy charm of Cassidy, along with being able to portray real darkness.
