Ranking 10 Worst Arrowverse Costumes
4. The Rival
Barry Allen and Wally West undoubtedly got the frights of their lives whenever they encountered The Rival in The Flash's third season premiere. An unusual creature - to put it mildly - the costume couldn't have been further from the character's comic book appearance if it tried.
Instead of being an evil reflection of Jay Garrick - which they couldn't do since Zoom had essentially done that in the second season - this iteration of Edward Clariss donned an all-black speedster uniform (that was in-line with the Arrowverse's other speedster costumes) with orange and yellow lightning bolt accents. Admittedly, the color scheme was nice as the black and the orange juxtaposed each other really well, but it was the mask that let this one down.
A heavily-wrinkled cowl with long goblin-like ears protruding from either side of it - which we can only assume were supposed to look like giant lightning bolts - it ended up looked like a badly-melted Batman mask made out of the flimsiest robber imaginable. Not exactly a threatening look now, is it?
Another example of how comic-accurate is usually best, The Rival is supposed to incite feelings of dread and fear but instead, it ended up inspiring a completely different type of WTF reaction.
