Ranking All 50 Game Of Thrones Episodes From Worst To Best
47. The Children (Season 4, Episode 10)
This season finale appears low on this list not for what happened in the episode - including the death of Tywin Lannister at the hands (or crossbow) of his son, Tyrion - but rather, for what didnt happen in the episode. As book fans will be aware, A Storm Of Swords (which lent the latter half of its material for Season 4) included a very shocking plot twist that many readers consider to be a game-changer but for seemingly no reason wasnt included on the show. When the last scene showed Arya on the ship to Braavos, and the credits rolled, book-readers everywhere flipped over their furniture. And it didnt help matters that Lena Headey (who plays Cersei) had teased the same twist on her Instagram account weeks earlier. In another departure from the books, the showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss made Shae into a sympathetic figure by showing that she really loved Tyrion, and only betrayed him because he wanted to send her away for her own protection. In the books, she was just pretending to love him as part of her job, which made her murder at the hands of Tyrion more palatable.
