Ranking Every DCAU Show And Film Worst To Best

1. Batman: The Animated Series

Justice League Fatal Five

Batman: The Animated Series being at the top of this list may have been inevitable, but that's only because nothing else could have taken the honour away from it. It is, without a doubt, one of the greatest animated shows of all time - one that transcended its own genre to such an extent that it's rightfully considered among some of television's greatest accomplishments.

Inspired by the success of Tim Burton's groundbreaking live-action Batman film, Bruce Timm and Paul Dini's classic series would go on to break its own ground, pushing boundaries and using the animated medium to tell mature Emmy-winning stories - stories that were on par with some of the best live-action narratives of the time, no less - while employing a unique art deco aesthetic that set it apart from anything else in its genre.

The DCAU starts and ends with Batman: The Animated Series. Without it, we wouldn't have this wonderful shared universe and, perhaps more importantly, we may never have heard Kevin Conroy's iconic Batman voice or Mark Hammill's legendary Joker, we may never have met Harley Quinn, and Mr. Freeze would be nothing more than a gimmicky one-note villain without a compelling backstory.

Batman's legacy is forever indebted to this dark, moody and compelling show and, quite frankly, so are all of us. This wasn't just the DCAU at its best, it was Batman at his best - and what an awe-inspiring experience it was.
