Ranking Every MCU TV Show From Worst To Best
6. Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.
The first to air of all of the shows on this list, Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. certainly takes some getting into and many will struggle to get through the first two thirds of its first season, which is essentially a formulaic police procedural with superpowered characters popping up here and there. It isn't until the tie-in to Captain America: The Winter Soldier's conspiracy plot that things actually start to take off, giving Phil Coulson's band of heroes an omnipresent threat to deal with in the form of HYDRA.
The series' isn't helped by the lack of recognisable characters outside of Coulson. Most of his fellow starring cast are original creations, whilst the comic characters that do show up are mostly C-list fodder, with the odd exception like Ghost Rider here and there.
Over time though, his group have grown to become beloved in their own right (and subsequently crossed over into comic form), and Agents has served as both an effective launching pad for concepts affecting the wider MCU and a forum for exploring those from the films further.
Coulson is set to return to the big screen after a seven-year absence in next year's Captain Marvel (though that will be a prequel to all of his previous appearances) and Agents' forthcoming sixth season will be just thirteen episodes long instead of the usual twenty-two, which could be interpreted as the beginning of the end. Its run has been respectable regardless.
