Disney are set to launch their own streaming platform in the near future, hence why they seem to be undergoing a messy breakup with Netflix. It’s open to debate as to what they’ll do about Hulu, given that their pending takeover of Fox will give them a 60% majority ownership of the platform. That leaves Runaways, which premiered on the service earlier on this year, in limbo somewhat after the production of its already announced second season, though it’d be relatively simple to move it across.

Whilst the prospect of watching teen drama can be groan-inducing for adults, Runaways is surprisingly deep, with its core narrative, a group of teenagers rebelling against their supervillain parents, providing an instant hook.

The mismatched group of teens, representing a number of different subcultures, are well cast, but it is their parents who steal the show, with Buffy alumnus James Marsters a standout as Victor Stein

Though far from perfect, Runaways certainly has enough legs to stick around for a few years. The characters have only been around since 2003, so they don't have a huge amount of comic material to draw upon , but the ensemble nature of the Pride (the collective name for the parents) enables the spotlight to be shared and spread, giving them far more longevity than a single villain.
