Ranking Every MCU TV Show From Worst To Best
3. The Punisher
You have to wonder whether The Punisher was a part of Marvel's plans when they pitched their original four series/one crossover concept to Netflix given that there was no mention of him before the second season of Daredevil began to take shape. Absent from The Defenders, the character made enough of an impression to get his own hastily announced series, giving the iconic anti-hero a shot at redemption on screen following two hugely underwhelming pre-MCU film outings in the noughties.
Jon Bernthal is nothing short of spectacular in the title role. His casting was something of a coup given the number of high profile projects he has been involved in since making his name on The Walking Dead, but the merciless, PTSD-riddled veteran that has no qualms about pulling the trigger on his foes is the part that the grizzled actor was born to play.
Like the rest of the Netflix series, The Punisher's biggest weakness is its length - the core plotlines of Frank Castle and Dinah Medani's separate investigations into William Rawlins' Afghanistan conspiracy, Micro's forced estrangement from his family as a result of his involvement in it and Billy Russo's two-faced conniving and eventual transition into Jigsaw could've easily been squeezed into a two and a half hour blockbuster rather than another thirteen episode marathon.
Punisher vs Jigsaw should make for a captivating second season if done right though.
