Ranking Every Season Of Arrow From Worst To Best
7. Season 3
Arrow's third season was a bit of mystery. On one hand, it started every bit as strong as the previous two seasons but, on the other, it spent most of the year in the same place, failing to capitalize on almost everything. Now, don't get this writer wrong, there were a ton of promising narrative threads throughout, such as Oliver's attempt to take down Ra's Al Ghul, Roy's internal struggles and Felicity's romance with Ray Palmer, but few of them actually lived up to their potential.
Much of the season was spent on the Ra's Al Ghul debacle - a debacle that only heightened the 'Batman Lite' comparisons that the show was on the receiving end of - and while the writers did a great job creating an all-powerful aura for the character before his introduction, they gave Matt Nable very little to do as he wanted to talk Oliver Queen into becoming his successor - and he was willing to spend all season talking him into it if he had to.
Other narratives weren't given the time they needed to breathe, such as Laurel's evolution into Black Canary which at the beginning was moving along nicely. However, following her awesome debut in the three Brick episodes midway through, her training took place off-screen and it made her miraculous improvements harder to buy. And that analogy basically sums up the disappointing finale, as the season faded out with a serviceable but flat conclusion.
