Ranking Every Season Of The Walking Dead (So Far)
1. Season Five
Season Five is as perfect as the franchise has ever been. This season brings everything The Walking Dead has to offer, from superb character arcs, to balanced screen time, to tightly written dialogue and perfect pacing. Even the weaker Grady Hospital arc isn't able to topple the high points of Season Five. Watching as the group walk, beaten and alone, is hard to watch, but the idea that everything will work out never strays too far.
We get to see Alexandria, which begins the next chapter of the show, as the Survivors go from lost and hopeless to having a home and a community of new allies. Morgan Jones' journey back to Rick also makes for an exciting little sub-plot and a promise of things to come, and Terminus is both horrible and genuinely fear inducing.
This is The Walking Dead at its most compelling, moving, bleak, hopeful and satisfying, and everyone gets their moment to shine. It's doubtful, really, that the show will ever top this season, but here's to hoping they do.
