Ranking The Marvel Netflix Shows From Worst To Best

4. Luke Cage

Jessica Jones
Netflix

Luke Cage tackled mature and necessary issues in a way that the MCU previously hadn't attempted. The concept of a bulletproof black man was not lost on the showrunners and they leant heavily into the social issues surrounding the show as they should have. The result is that Luke Cage feels relevant but also celebratory as the cast is almost exclusively black.

Despite the great use of representation and smartly tackled themes, the show itself suffers from pacing issues throughout and ends up feeling very bland in comparison to the other shows on this list. Its most egregious offence is the squandered use of a now two time Oscar winning Mahershala Ali who was implied to be the main villain of Season One before being killed off half way through.

Ali's Cottonmouth was a compelling villain with added dimension that other antagonists of the show sorely lacked and no one else could compare to Ali's versatility. Mike Coulter was a strong Luke Cage but he wasn't enough to stop the show feeling lesser after Ali's departure.
