Morty might seem like a spineless character who is afraid of almost everything. But that isn't the case, as discussed before Mortys fear comes from his ability to survive.
But when Morty truly needs to ensure that he and Rick survive whatever situation they are in, he steps up. Morty shows another side of him that is courageous and in some cases even cold-blooded. He even gets like this when he needs to defend his family, but only when he needs to.
Not everyone is a fighter but when it comes down to doing what needs to be done, even if it is for something simpler that survival, we do it. That has always been a redeeming quality of humans, no matter what type of hardship we fall on we always find a way to get out of the hole and get stronger.
