Like many episodes of Rick and Morty - and indeed the show itself - Look Who's Purging Now is a parody. In this case, it's a parody of the Purge film franchise. However, our favourite grandfather-grandson duo pull it off in a far more tongue-in-cheek and entertaining way.

Not only is there gore galore, but there are many significant character moments throughout. Jerry's desperation for attention, snidely dismissed by Summer's remark to get a job, stands out particularly, and a violent dark side of Morty is revealed.

There is very much a balance between character and plot here, making it a deliciously dark and enjoyable watch. The only thing holding Look Who's Purging Now back from a higher place on the list is the abundance of equally good episodes also in the season.
