Rick & Morty: 10 Characters You Forgot Existed
3. Dr. Wong
It might seem redundant to include two characters from the Pickle Rick episode, but Dr. Wong is far more of an essential part to the Rick and Morty canon than anyone gives her credit for.
Pickle Rick is probably the most iconic episode of the series. Even people who don't watch Rick and Morty have at least some familiarity with it. However, everyone seems to forget that the point of the episode wasn't that Rick turned himself into a pickle, but rather why he did. Spoiler alert, it was to avoid having to go to therapy.
Dr. Wong serves to remind us just how utterly broken both Rick and Beth are. She reads the whole family like a book written for children, telling us directly that Rick and Beth use their intelligence as a way to avoid having to deal with the things in their lives that actually matter, like their children.
Out of almost every character in the series, Dr. Wong is the one that reminds us the best that no one in the show, especially Rick, is to be looked up to.
