In typical Rick and Morty fashion, the tropes of TV are misconstrued and misaligned with the traditions of old, as much as the characters are.

In this entry though they went the extra mile, going as far as to mess with the TV schedule with this season-starting episode being released on April Fool's Day and proverbially giving the middle finger to its viewers with its teasing of the entire season kick-starting.

Following on immediately from the events of season 2’s breathtaking finale, Rick is being interrogated moments before he goes on a rampage and eviscerates every Rick and his Morty and just about everyone else that contributed to his arrest.

Causing the inevitable divorce between Beth and Jerry before going on an insane tirade to Morty as he dribbles over the young mans head while unveiling the whole plan from commencement to conclusion.
