Ricky Gervais Returns as Golden Globes Host

Ricky Gervais is returning to host the Golden Globes for the third straight year in a row.

Ricky Gervais is returning to host the Golden Globes for the third straight year in a row. The Hollywood Foreign Press Association officially announced the news today, ending weeks of rumours and speculation. Gervais met recently with NBC official Doug Vaughn and earlier HFPA President Dr. Aida Takla-O'Reilly in Paris and a deal was thrashed out. From the sounds of things NBC and HFPA made a big plea for Gervais. Until recent weeks, the likelihood of Gervais being re-appointed for the Golden Globes seemed remote and after the media furor over his controversial last stint, he clearly didn't think he would return either. In countless interviews he believed that he didn't think he would be asked back but back he indeed is and no doubt he will soon start planning which celebrities to rib on the night. Just leave poor Tim Allen alone this time eh? This year's edition of the Golden Globes will be held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel on January 15th. Gervais tweeted this afternoon;
"Just told Billy Crystal he'd better not use any of my holocaust or pedophile material at The Oscars. He agreed (true)"
