2. We Didn't Love: How They Stole The Story From Sherlock
In 'The Blind Banker', a young Chinese woman, fleeing from her family, comes to London to escape. Her brother, a gifted gymnast, pursues her and begins killing people off. Sherlock and Watson must work out the connection between the victims and the woman before it is too late. In 'Pure As The Driven', a young Chinese woman, fleeing from her family, comes to London to escape. Her brother, a gifted martial artist, pursues her and begins killing people off. Reid, Drake and Jackson must work out the connection between the victims and the woman before it is too late. Okay, so it may not be exactly the same story in Sherlock, the young woman is innocent, whereas Blush Pang from Ripper Street most certainly is not. And Ripper Street did tie in a strangely compelling love story between Shine and Pang. However, the similarities are too many to miss and, despite Ripper Street sometimes feeling very much like a Victorian version of Sherlock (ironic considering Sherlock's origins) but with less high functioning sociopaths, the writers of Ripper Street could have done something different.
