2. The Return of Mary Andrews

Molly Ringwald made her return to the show for the first time in months, as Mary Andrews dropped in to visit Archie. In doing so, she learned about her son's newfound love of boxing and, upon hearing of the Black Hood's apparent return, promised to stick around until his father returned home.

Her sudden arrival could be down to Luke Perry's untimely passing as the writers had to write his character out of the show. As Archie's relationship with his father was such a huge part of Riverdale, it's possible that they needed to call upon Mary to bridge that gap before they come up with a permanent reason for Fred's absence.

What set Riverdale apart from the rest of the supernatural-like soapy shows was that the parents were as important to the story as their children, so it's good to know that Archie will still have a parental figure in his life going forward. Hopefully, this will give the writers a chance to fully develop his relationship with his mother.
