Riverdale Season 3: 3 Ups & 4 Downs From 'The Dark Secret Of Harvest House'
1. Jason Blossom Is The Gargoyle King?
After nearly a year of throwing us clues and baffling us entirely, Riverdale apparently unmasked the Gargoyle King in 'The Dark Secret Of Harvest House' when Ethel Muggs revealed that Jason Blossom is the man behind the demon. This was seemingly then confirmed by Jughead when he dug up Jason's grave to find no body inside the casket.
While the show could always pull a complete 180 and change the Gargoyle King's identity in next week's finale (it has done it before), throwing Jason into the mix has just highlighted how far Riverdale has fallen from its once-glorious heights.
The murder of Jason Blossom was the investigation that launched the show and, quite frankly, the only near-perfect thing that it has managed to produce. Everything after its debut offering hasn't been up-to-scratch, so to bring Jason back into things now and suggest that he might have actually been alive all this time threatens to undermine the validity of the stellar first season.
For months, fans have been guessing who the Gargoyle King is and, while Jason has been on many of their suspect lists, he was never the number 1 choice because, well, it's both too obvious and too far-fetched. Apparently none of those issues bothered the writers.
