Riverdale Season 3: 4 Ups & 6 Downs From 'Fear The Reaper'

3. Miss Ronson's Sudden Change Of Heart

The death of Randy Ronson had a significant impact on his sister, the not-important-enough-to-receive-a-first-name Miss Ronson, who, for some reason, decided to ignore all the clear indicators that Elio had something to do with Randy's death and instead, joined forces with him as she focused all of her aggression on Archie - spouting cliché one-liners in the process.

As underdeveloped as she seemed, her grief was a passable obstacle for Archie to overcome... or at least that's what it looked like, until he overcame it quite quickly. His second meeting with Miss Ronson, in which she finally broke down and thanked him for his selfless donation, was nothing short of beautiful, but it lacked the emotional stakes that it needed because she literally pulled a 180 and changed her behaviour with no explanation whatsoever.

"Thank you, Miss Ronson, for agreeing to see me." Archie said at the opening of the scene. Sorry, when did this happen? One minute, she was slapping him on live TV and the next, she was emotionally bonding with him. There was no middle ground and thus, this ended up coming off as a contrived way of forcing the plot forward, much like Riverdale's usual "it happened because we said it did" approach.
