Riverdale Season 3: 9 Theories On The Gargoyle King's True Identity

4. Gladys Jones

Riverdale Gargoyle King

The illusive Gladys Jones finally made her presence felt on Riverdale this season when she returned to town following a brief reunion with her son, Jughead. Since then, she has been playing happy families with Jughead, daughter Jellybean and husband F.P., and even bought the Cooper house for them. That, however, was merely a front for what she was really up to.

From the moment she returned, she has been recruiting wayward Gargoyles and providing them with Fizzle Rocks (or "G" as the drugs are now known as) to sell on street corners. Those same Gargoyles, especially ring-leader Kurtz, naturally have an affinity for Gryphons & Gargoyles and have had no problem terrorizing the town as they carried out their fantastical quests in real life. This, of course, leaves us wondering why they are working with Gladys.

Could the drug operation also be a front to conceal what's really going on here? Gladys is no stranger to Riverdale and is well-acquainted with all of the members of the Midnight Club so there's a strong possibility that she was the original Gargoyle King back then and has since returned to the fray to prey on the next generation. Granted, she has been absent for part of the King's reign of terror, but the first few Gargoyle King sightings could have been one (of the many) impostors.

We've seen recently that drugs seem to play a part in a lot of the Gargoyle King's supernatural tendencies, so shouldn't we all be pointing our fingers directly at Riverdale's own druglord?
