Riverdale Season 3: 9 Theories On The Gargoyle King's True Identity
3. Edgar Evernever
If fans had to decide the true Big Bad of this season, the Gargoyle King would undoubtedly receive some stiff competition in the form of Edgar Evernever. The formerly faceless leader of The Farm was unnerving through reputation alone, and when he eventually revealed himself at Riverdale High's musical performance of Carrie, the threat became a lot more real (which is saying a lot considering he looks as dreamy as Chad Michael Murray).
With both The Farm and Gryphons & Gargoyles respectively brainwashing Riverdale's residents, has anyone ever stopped to think that they're more closely related than it appeared? Could Edgar Evernever and the Gargoyle King be one in the same?
There are similarities in their approaches, no doubt, but it does pose us with many questions - first and foremost: Was Edgar the one who showed up at Riverdale High School all those years ago and killed principal Featherhead? If so, was he trying to recruit the Midnight Club into his Farm? On that note, did The Farm even exist back then?
It's also worth bearing in mind the possibility that, even if he was the Gargoyle King of 1992, he may not be the current one, as there is a strong possibility that he could have passed the mantle on to his successor...
