Riverdale Season 3 Finale: What Does The Ending Really Mean?

3. Charles Smith Is Alive

Riverdale Charles Smith
The CW

The FBI agent that revealed Alice's true intentions immediately struck up a kinship with both Betty and Jughead, praising their investigative tendencies. From his friendly nature to the genuine affection in his voice when he spoke to them, it was immediately clear that he could be trusted and, unable to figure out why, Betty wondered if she knew him. This led the agent to reveal his true identity: Charles Smith - the long lost half-brother of both Betty and Jughead.

Ever since Alice revealed that a one-night-stand with F.P. Jones led to a secret child (that she was later forced to put up for adoption), so much of Riverdale has revolved around the Coopers' attempts to locate her son. These searches eventually led Betty to Chic who, at one point, she really thought was her missing sibling - that is, until Chic revealed that Charles was actually his best friend and that he eventually killed him.

However, now it appears that Chic was lying about that too because, after all this time, Charles is finally a part of the show, and it's looking like he will play a major role going forward as he assists both Betty and Jughead in their attempts to rescue Alice from The Farm.
