Both Davies and Moffat have written low-budget episodes of Who; Davies has written 'Love & Monsters' and 'Midnight' and Moffat has written 'Blink'. Two of these episodes are Doctor-lite and all three pay less attention to depicting a monster, and more to the threat of evil itself; it's the same in 'The Lodger', an episode produced by Moffat and written by Gareth Roberts. Again, Davies focusses more on the myth of the Doctor when he's not around, and Moffat chooses to convey him as a mystery. Where both writers are similar is that they take the Doctor out of comfort zone, or completely sometimes, meaning that the lack of special effects or flashy location doesn't detract from the enjoyment of the episode.
