6. Love Letters -S5E2
Moira is everyone's favourite dysfunctional parent. She might have a couple issues with prescription medication and be the most self-absorbed, but the matriarch of the Rose family is still someone you'd want in your corner - and someone you'd never want to get on the wrong side of.
In her sleep-deprived state following a long-winded flight home, Moira finds love letters addressed to her beloved husband from a mysterious lover. The combination of her present state and her past painkiller-induced delirium means she has absolutely no recollection of writing those same letters while on set for renowned drama Sunrise Bay. Instead, she believes her husband to have been unfaithful.
Moira's dramatic response to the perceived betrayal deserves an Oscar, as does Johnny's calm and collected reminder that these are indeed just mementos of their own relationship. After decades of marriage, it turns out that Johnny knows exactly how to diffuse the ticking time bomb that is his wife. What could have been a serious domestic is instead turned into a touching reminder of the real love between the couple. And here lies a lesson for viewers who may find themselves in similar situations: please go straight to your partner for answers, and don't go to everyone but to flaunt your drama and potential relationship breakdown.
