5. The Garage Fake Out
In this scene, the episode messes with expectations in a way that's actually pretty brilliant. The opening sequence was a clear recreation of the opening of the first Scream movie, with Bella Thorne filling in for Drew Barrymore and being killed right away. So then you get to this scene where Brooke goes into the creepy garage, and it seems like this is going to be the show's version of the garage death scene from the first movie. It doesn't hurt that right before, Noah is going on another self-aware monologue about how they're all safe as long as nobody wanders off, just as Brooke is doing so at that exact moment. The tension builds and builds as she investigates the car with its door open, and then...nothing happens. She comes away fine. It's a great way to reverse expectations and stray from the movie, making for a nice, welcome surprise.
