Scream Season 2 Review: 7 Ups & 6 Downs

4. There's Less Cringe-Worthy Dialogue

One of the worst things about the first season was the utterly insufferable dialogue: the pop-culture references were over-abundant and trying too hard, the cutesy dialogue was cringe-worthy, it was self-aware to the point of obnoxiousness, and characters frequently talked to themselves even when nobody else was around.

Thankfully this has all been toned down massively for Season 2, suggesting the writers have taken the criticism to heart. Sure, these issues are not completely gone, but at least the references feel more appropriate and on-point, and there's less of that "oh-so-witty" teen quipping that's so irritating to just about anyone who isn't, in fact, a teenager.
