3. The Awesome Episode Names

Alright, so episode names aren't ultimately particularly important, but after the first season went through dull titles like "Exposed", "Betrayed", "Ghosts" and "Revelations", it's nice to see Season 2 opt to name every single episode after a beloved horror movie.

The titles for Season 2 are "I Know What You Did Last Summer", "Psycho", "Vacancy", "Happy Birthday to Me", "Dawn of the Dead", "Jeepers Creepers", "Let the Right One In", "Village of the Damned", "The Orphanage", "The Vanishing", "Heavenly Creatures" and "A Stranger Calls".

These titles often also tie directly into the episodes themselves, such as Psycho and Vacancy both having major plot points revolving around a motel, Dawn of the Dead has most of the protagonists sealed inside their school (like the mall from the Romero movie), Let the Right One In features a character called Eli who may or may not be trustworthy, The Orphanage has an orphanage backstory, and The Vanishing touts a buried alive sequence.

While the actual show itself sometimes goes overboard with the pop-culture nods, this was a clever way to pay homage to genre forebears without it seeming too overt or obnoxious. Hopefully if Season 3 does indeed happen, they'll keep this trend up.
