Scrubs: 10 Best Characters In Just One Episode

7. Nick

Not long after Scrubs first aired back in 2001, JD quickly established himself as the top dog among the interns, and Dr. Cox's go to guy, even in spite of all the abuse he received. He was the main character after all, so this wasn't surprising, but in just the seventh episode of season one, his dominance was challenged.

Played by the wonderful Sean Hayes, Nick emerged as one of the best young doctors in Sacred Heart's intern class. He was seemingly able to handle any problem he faced, he was humble, no one had a bad word to say about him, and he didn't look bad in scrubs either. Essentially, Nick was everything JD wanted to be.

However, much of the confidence he exuded was a façade, covering up his insecurities and fears. The worsening of one child in particular's condition ultimately caught up with him, and he left the hospital unable to cope with the stress of the job.

In a way, Nick was the personification of the opposite of the show's message. It says in the opening title of every episode that you can't do everything all on your own. JD, Turk, and Elliott had each other to lean on, whereas Nick simply pushed the struggling feelings down until they took over him, instead of leaning on those around him as well.
